The Central Maine Community College Foundation is a community-based, non-profit corporation with a sole mission of support for Central Maine Community College and its students. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of community and business leaders. The Foundation has contributed over $1.2 million dollars to CMCC for scholarships, program improvements and capital projects.

The Foundation Board of Directors provides a forum for matters that have a broad impact on the College. Board members have an opportunity to provide feedback on major changes in policies and programs, participate in the development of long range plans, and interpret College goals and programs as it relates to the needs of the general public.

Message from the Chair

Former U.S. Representative Ron Lewis was quoted saying “Ensuring quality higher education is one of the most important things we can do for future generations.”

As Chair of the CM Foundation Board of Directors, I am honored to work with a dedicated group of staff and Foundation board members who are committed to our future generations and making higher education more accessible to members of our community.  With a sole mission of supporting CM and its students, we are fortunate to have many community partners and individuals who have been champions for our efforts, allowing us to contribute over $1.2M in scholarships.

The true champions are the students. Our Annual Awards every year highlights remarkable students who have overcome obstacles, beat the odds, dedicated themselves to their schoolwork, sports and the college.  Often, I am moved to tears hearing stories about where our students have come from and what goals they’ve set for themselves, including goals they have achieved! Many of our students are first-generation college students; many have families of their own and hold full-time jobs. Our students are here because they want a better life for themselves and their families.

I feel privileged to be a part of this Board, helping students see their dreams become a reality and helping our community to thrive. As we seek ways to address labor shortages, CM has an opportunity to play an integral role in coordinating training and education programs to address employer’s needs.  I encourage you to take some time learning more about the Foundation and consider how you could personally become involved. There is a plethora of opportunities that exist allowing you to also play a significant role in making higher education more accessible for anyone who wants to pursue post-secondary education. Together we can and will make a difference!
