Come to Explore: stay for a lifetime of discovery.

Our People are welcoming and hard-working, a reflection of our rich history of immigration. One of the most diverse populations in Maine, we boast the city with the youngest average age, too!
Our food + dining provide selections for every palate and budget, built on the region’s strong support for local foods and farms. Small, family-owned diners and pizza shops are situated next to diverse offerings from Africa, India, Vietnam, Italy, and France.
Our arts + cultural offerings can be found as murals on street corners and three-story parking garages, performing arts in parks or world-class theaters, and in galleries and artisan shops.
Our activities can be enjoyed across the four seasons: outdoors on trails for skiing, snowmobiling, biking, and hiking, on our rivers and lakes for paddling or swimming, or in any of the 20 cultural and community festivals.
Our communities number 16 across the county, and offer waterfront capes, working farms, and city condos as places to call home – whether you prefer to live close to your neighbors or have acres to yourself.

HOW TO GET HERE
