Central Maine Community College is excited to offer a variety of programs for area youth to experience life on a college campus this summer! Programs range from science to social media and forensics to athletics; the schedule holds something for everyone.
All Summer College Aspiration Program participants receive a 2026 CMCC Summer Program t-shirt as part of their registration!

JUNE 2026
Computer Build & PlayComputer Build & Play

Monday, 6/22 • 10am – 3pm • Ages 10-17
Led by Computer Technology Faculty & Esports Coach
Interested in learning how to put together your own computer? CMCC Computer Technology professors Chris Thoma and Brett Bisesti will walk you through the basics of assembling your own PC and joining a local network. Then, after lunch, it’s down to our state-of-the-art Esports Arena to compete in a variety of titles on our Alienware gaming PCs.
Lunch will be provided by the CMCC Dining Commons. Each participant will receive a 2026 CMCC Summer Program t-shirt. This program is limited to 15 participants.
Volleyball Basics: Serving, Passing, and Hitting

Monday-Wednesday, 6/22-6/24 • 6pm – 8:30pm • Ages 11-14
Led by CMCC Head Volleyball Coach
This volleyball camp is open to boys and girls in grades 6, 7, and 8. Join CMCC volleyball head coach Hanna Webster for three nights of camp working on the basic skills of volleyball. Monday will be all about the correct ways to serve the ball, Tuesday covers passing with bumps and sets, and Wednesday takes campers through hitting the ball and the best ways to attack. Come join the fun! No prior volleyball experience necessary.

Speculative Fiction: Building Worlds for Writing

Wednesday, 6/24 • 9am – 3:30pm • Ages 11-17
Led by Humanities Faculty
What if you could build an entire world in a single day, then write the story that shakes that world to its core? Our creative writing camp is a one-day adventure for students aged 11-17. Campers will invent their own fantasy or sci-fi worlds from scratch – complete with maps, mysteries, and secrets – then spend the afternoon writing a short story set inside them. The day wraps up with every writer sharing a portion of their work. No experience is necessary. All you need is curiosity and a love of storytelling. Come learn with us about the wild world of speculative fiction!

Boys Soccer Goalkeeper Camp

Wednesday-Friday, 6/24-6/26 • 6pm – 8pm • Ages 13-18
Led by CMCC Men’s Soccer Coach
Elevate your game with CMCC Men’s Soccer Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach, Jeremy Croston, as he takes participants through a three-night camp on all things goalkeeping. Wednesday starts off with a review of positioning and fundamental techniques to instill good habits. Thursday breaks down diving, crosses, distribution, and commanding the box. Friday wraps up the camp with goalie wars and player evaluations.
Each participant will receive a 2026 CMCC Summer Program t-shirt, pair of Gold Star goalkeeping gloves, and a copy of coach Croston’s book, “The Goalkeeper’s Bible: Advanced Tactics”. This program is limited to 20 participants.
Master the Mental Game: Mindfulness & Visualization for High School Athletes

Thursday, 6/25 • 3pm – 5pm • Ages 14-19
Led by Human Services Faculty
Good athletes don’t just train their bodies – they train their minds! In this workshop, participants will learn the mental skills athletes can use to improve focus, confidence, and performance. Through visualization exercises, athletes will discover how mindfulness and sport visualization can help them prepare for competition (or just a good practice) and stay focused in key moments or simply practice a skill. These techniques can be used in any sport. Each participant will receive a free workbook, The Visualization Handbook for Elite Athletes, along with a performance planning workbook designed to help athletes create their own mental training plan they can continue using after the workshop. High school athletes from all sports and skill levels are welcome. Train your mind and strengthen your mental game!

Playing with Fire: Basics of Combustion and Oil Burners

Monday, 6/29 • 10am – 2:30pm • Ages 13-18
Led by Plumbing & Heating Technology Faculty
This program is designed to take students through the basics of operating an oil burner. You’ll start in the classroom with a walkthrough of how combining oxygen and fuel leads to combustion, with an added emphasis on safety. After lunch, we’ll end the day with a live-firing, interactive demonstration of an oil burner, where participants will get to operate the controls and adjust the level.

Led by Culinary Arts Faculty
Love desserts? Then this two-day camp is for you! Learn to make homemade tarts from scratch with Culinary Arts department instructor Austin Perreault. He will take you through multiple recipes, teaching you how to make fresh fruit and almond cream baked tarts. Participants will also learn how to top them off with vanilla pastry cream and will take home their very own tart pan to be able to put their new skills to use in their kitchen!

Structural Design – Building Bridges

Wednesday, 7/8 • 10am – 3pm • Ages 10-17
Led by Architectural Studies Faculty
Get ready to create like a designer! In this hands-on structural design summer camp, participants explore how buildings and structures stand, move, and sometimes fail, using a wide variety of construction techniques. Campers will design and build projects using materials such as wood, cardboard, and recycled items, learning how each material behaves under different forces. Through fun challenges, like building the tallest tower and the strongest bridge, students will experiment with concepts such as tension, compression, stability, and load distribution. Working both independently and in teams, participants will sketch ideas, create models, test their designs, and refine their solutions, just like real architects and engineers. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to try, fail, and try again!

Science is Magic – But Real

Calling all future magicians and scientists! Join the Life Sciences faculty for an exciting morning in the lab where we will investigate mysterious color changes, mix chemicals, and maybe play with a bit of fire. Fun and safety will be our top priorities so please make sure that you come dressed in long pants and sneakers.

Fun with Forensics

Thursday, 7/14 • 8:30am – 11:30am • Ages 10-17
Led by Public Service & Social Sciences Faculty
Looking for a hands-on introduction to the world of forensic science? Then this is the program for you! Campers will gain a behind-the-scenes look at the way crime scenes are processed by investigating, fingerprinting, memorization and observation, and using alternative light sources to collect and process evidence. This scenario will also integrate skills related to forensic science, criminal justice, psychology and conservation law.

Wooden Car Derby

Wednesday/Thursday, 7/15 – 7/16 • 10am – 4pm • Ages 8-15
Led by Faculty in Automotive Technology, Graphic Communications, Building Construction Technology, and Precision Machining Technology
Rev up your (wooden) engines and take to the track for this summer’s CM wooden car derby! Participants will design, create, decorate, and ultimately race their miniature cars to determine who has the fastest build in this two-day event. You’ll work with the Automotive Technology, Precision Machine Tooling, and Building Construction Technology programs to design and carve out your car from wood, head over to Graphic Communications to decorate them in the coolest fashion, before racing them on the downhill track against your fellow competitors to determine a winner!

Girls Youth Soccer Clinic

Monday – Wednesday, 7/20 – 7/22 • 6pm – 8:30pm • Ages 10-13
Led by CMCC Women’s Soccer Coach
This camp is open to girls soccer players looking to help improve their skills, with three sessions over three evenings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. CMCC Women’s Soccer coaches will take athletes through a wide array of skills and drills, focusing on footwork, passing, shooting, defending, and introducing players to basic team tactics.
Each participant will receive a 2026 CMCC Summer Program t-shirt. This program is limited to 60 participants.
STEM: Hands-On with Electronics

Led by Faculty in Electromechanical Technology and Math/Physical Sciences
This camp is geared towards those with an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Step into our ELT lab for some hands-on learning with our Electromechanical Technology and Math & Physical Sciences departments. Participants will learn the basics about what powers our world full of electronics. Then they will dive into some DIY projects making things like their very own FM radios, Bluetooth speakers, microphones, RC cars, and more, to take home with them at the end of the day.

Women’s Volleyball Skills Camp

Tuesday, 7/21 and Thursday, 7/23 • 6pm – 8:30pm • Ages 14-18
Led by CMCC Women’s Volleyball Coach
This volleyball camp is open to girls in high school. Join CMCC volleyball head coach Hanna Webster for two nights of camp on Tuesday and Thursday, working to refine players’ skills in all aspects of the game! Activities will include development drills, fun small-sided games, and live scrimmages. Also features a Q&A with college players and coaches about the recruitment process and playing college volleyball.

Basic Vehicle Maintenance for New Drivers

Wednesday, 7/22 • 10am – 2:30am • Ages 15-18
Led by Automotive Technology Faculty
Calling all new drivers! Did you just get your license or learner’s permit? Then this summer program is designed for you. Learn the basics of taking care of your car, truck, or SUV to keep it out of the shop and on the road. Instructors will show you how to change a tire, check your fluids, jump a dead battery, change your oil and go some of the checks for a yearly state inspection sticker in our Automotive Technology lab.

Be a Healthcare Hero!

Thursday, 7/23 • 10am – 2:30pm • Ages 12-18
Led by Nursing and Education Faculty
This camp is all about exploring the world of healthcare and discovering what it’s like to be a nurse. Participants will learn about different healthcare jobs, what nurses do, and how teamwork and communication are super important in healthcare. Practice taking vital signs, learn about hand hygiene, and play some cool games to test your skills. At the end of the day, we’ll put everything we’ve learned to the test in a fun escape room challenge.

CMCC Men’s Soccer coaches and players from the Mustangs USCAA National Championship-winning squad are hosting a three-night camp open to all high school boys soccer players, from incoming freshman to graduating seniors. They’ll take athletes through a wide array of skills and drills, focusing on advanced dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending on the Central Maine Community College turf facility. Also features a Q&A on the college recruitment process.

Elite High School Girls Soccer Camp

Friday – Sunday, 8/14 – 8/16 OVERNIGHT, Grades 9-12
Led by CMCC Women’s Soccer Coach
CMCC Women’s Soccer coaches and athletes host this three-day, two-night camp geared towards girls soccer players looking to play in college. Camp runs from Friday night to Sunday at noon, and players will live and train like a college team for the weekend while working on elite level skills and tactics. Off-field sessions will include how to get recruited, what college coaches look for in players, and how to break down game video. Also features a Q&A with current college players. Players will need to be dropped off at 6pm on Friday, August 14 and picked up by 12pm on Sunday, August 16.
