Richard G. Rockefeller Conservation Internship Program

Ready to spend your summer learning about land conservation and gaining hands-on experience caring for Maine’s beautiful landscapes? This entry-level, residential summer internship could be the perfect fit! We have up to 11 positions available for motivated students who want to make a difference.

What’s the program
You’ll join a cohort of interns placed with Maine land trusts and conservation organizations—one intern per host site. No prior experience required! You’ll learn by doing, with responsibilities that may include:

  • Trail maintenance and stewardship projects
  • Working with volunteers
  • Monitoring conservation easements
  • Other hands-on land care activities

Details

  • Pay: $18/hour
  • Housing: Provided for most positions, if needed
  • Dates: June 1 – August 7, 2026
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week for 10 weeks

Who Can Apply

  • Current student in Maine (or with a Maine connection)—undergraduate, certificate, or trade school
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation required
