The Leadership School Fellow
Summary
The Leadership School (TLS) Fellow is a service-oriented, early-career educator who loves working with kids and is a positive steward of the environment. In the fall and spring terms, they lead overnight Outdoor School programs, and in the winter term, they serve in residence at local public schools. They facilitate outreach programs at Maine schools throughout the school year, are the primary facilitators for KWE Events, and serve in leadership roles at Camp Kieve or Wavus Camp. They are provided housing as KWE’s primary facilitators.
Primary Responsibilities
The Leadership School
Implement and facilitate all TLS programs throughout the school year.
Develop expertise in our Experiential Approach to Social Emotional Learning (EASEL) and our environmental stewardship curricula, and become proficient in all challenge course facilitation.
Proactively seek ways to engage, empower, and teach the students and teachers we serve.
Consistently demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow as a professional, actively participating in all trainings and professional development opportunities.
Complete all coursework and student teaching necessary to earn professional certification through our higher education partners.
Camp Kieve or Wavus Camp
Serve as a Head Bunk Counselor, unless asked by a camp director to fulfill a different role.
Prioritize the campers and their experience, being a role model they can strive to emulate.
KWE Events
Support any ancillary KWE programs, serving a wide range of participants, ranging from veterans to people battling cancer, to local businesses and schools, and everything in between.
Operations & Safety
Support all operations departments as needed to ensure KWE can advance its mission.
Work through a lens of intentional, healthy risk-taking, striving to provide an environment where participants can be challenged safely.
Kieve Wavus Education empowers people to contribute positively to society by promoting the values of kindness, respect for others, and environmental stewardship through year-round experiential programs, camps for youth and adults, and guidance from inspirational role models.
