BIW Simulation Room Dedicated at CMCC

March 16, 2016

The General Dynamics/Bath Iron Works (BIW) Simulation Room at Central Maine Community College (CMCC) was formally dedicated in a brief ceremony held recently at the College.

Located on the third floor of The Tower, the new academic building that opened last fall, the simulation room is equipped with group pods, each with a computer and screen, and movable writing boards that are ideal for brainstorming sessions. Due to the room layout and maneuverability, class focus can easily switch between lecture and group work. Now viewed as a prototype, the College is exploring the conversion of some existing spaces into similar simulation rooms.

The room was made possible by a generous gift from BIW, which has long been a strong supporter of the College and the Maine Community College System. Many BIW employees have completed training programs at CMCC, such as in supervisor development and precision machine milling.
