ANDREW SEVERSON NAMED CENTRAL MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE 2024 STUDENT OF THE YEAR
Auburn, ME – Central Maine Community College (CMCC) is proud to announce Andrew (Andy) Severson as the 2024 CMCC Student of the Year. Andy began his CMCC journey amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, initially as an online student. Recognizing that online learning did not align with his learning style, Andy, a Liberal Studies student from Rockland, made the decision to transition to campus life during the Fall 2021 semester. Embracing the array of on-campus resources available to him, Andy not only changed majors but also reinforced his confidence in his academic capabilities. In recognition of his strong academic achievement and commitment to community service, Andy received the Gorman Scholarship for the 2022-2023 academic year.
During his time at CMCC, Andy has held many roles, serving as a Resident Assistant, athletic videographer, Esports Arena Manager, member of the CMCC Maintenance Team, and a passionate JMG leader. His commitment to the CMCC community has been nothing short of exemplary.
As Andy prepares to take the stage at the 2024 Commencement Ceremony on May 9th, his journey doesn’t end here. Andy will embark on his next adventure this fall as he pursues a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Management at the University of Maine at Augusta. Andy’s achievements and commitment to CMCC serve as a testament to his perseverance, dedication, and unwavering spirit.
