Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Course Offered At Central Maine Community College

The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College is offering the American Heart Association course in “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.” This four-hour course will run Saturday, September 17 from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures. Topics covered include adult and pediatric CPR; use of the bag-valve mask; airway obstruction; automated external defibrillation (with child AED update); and stroke and cardiac arrest.

This course is open to the public and intended for physicians, nurses, paramedics, first responders, medical technicians or anyone whose work brings them into contact with members of the public. Registration for this course is open and ongoing but space is limited. The cost of the class and materials is $79.
