A Message to Students About the Spring Semester

Students,

As we enter the second half of the semester, we want to encourage everyone to take a moment and reflect on some of your accomplishments: safely enacting our Return to Campus plan; implementing and learning Brightspace, a new learning management system; some students taking their first online class (and more than one of them!); using the Mustang Mobile App; and continuing to navigate life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are very pleased to report that students, faculty and staff are doing a great job following the COVID-19 protocols intended to keep campus safe.  With Thanksgiving break on the horizon and the increase in positive cases in Maine, we must remain vigilant with masking and distancing in order to sustain the progress we’ve made so far this semester.  We ask that you keep that in mind and make good choices.

Registration for spring started this week.  The spring semester will operate much the same as the fall semester with on-campus instruction for essential hands-on courses that use equipment found in campus labs and shops.  Courses that can be taught remotely will continue to be, but one change you may notice is that some faculty will integrate live virtual sessions into their courses.

Check out these registration dates, contact your advisors, and make your spring schedules:

Students with 30 or more credits – Registration opened Monday, November 2
Students with 29 or fewer credits – Registration opens Monday, November 9
The bookstore has notified us that there may be delays in getting course materials for spring due to shipping time.  For this reason, financial aid book allowances will be placed on student cards two weeks before the start of the spring 2021 semester, instead of the usual one week before the start of the semester.  With that in mind, please order course materials as early as possible with the bookstore to ensure your materials come in for the start of the semester.

If you need assistance with bookstore orders, below is important contact information:

Finally, please spread the word about Student Senate’s #weeklychallenge on the Mustang Mobile App.  It has been the highlight of our weeks to see the #weeklychallenge pictures!  Keep it coming and we look forward to November’s thankfulness theme.

Stay safe, stay healthy!
