Inspire Learning from the Very Beginning

About Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Education prepares students to work with young children during the most important stages of growth, development, and learning.

At CMCC, students develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to support children from infancy through age eight in early learning and childcare environments. Coursework combines child development theory, curriculum planning, classroom environments, literacy development, family engagement, and inclusive teaching practices with hands-on field experiences in licensed early childhood settings.

The program is designed for students interested in working directly with young children in childcare centers, preschool programs, Head Start, family childcare, and special education environments. Students interested in becoming certified PreK-12 classroom teachers may also want to explore CMCC’s transfer-focused Education program.
