Central Maine Community College was established by the Maine Legislature to provide associate degree and certificate programs that meet the educational, occupational, and technical needs of Maine’s citizens and workforce.
As one of seven colleges within the Maine Community College System, CMCC operates under the governance of the Maine Community College System Board of Trustees. Policies and decisions of the Board are implemented through the President of the Maine Community College System, who serves as the System’s chief executive officer.
