Turn Passion into Profession
About Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts program prepares students for careers in professional kitchens, baking and pastry environments, catering operations, institutional food service, and hospitality settings.
At CMCC, students develop hands-on culinary skills while learning classical cooking techniques, baking and pastry fundamentals, food safety and sanitation, menu development, nutrition, purchasing, and kitchen operations. Students gain experience working in kitchen laboratory and dining room environments while building the teamwork, communication, professionalism, and problem-solving skills expected in the foodservice industry.
Students may complete either the one-year Culinary Arts certificate or continue into the associate degree program for expanded culinary, baking, and management preparation. Students interested in the business and operational side of the hospitality industry may also want to explore CMCC’s Restaurant Management program.
