Waldo Community Action Partners is seeking a Lead Teacher!  Are you seeking a career in Early Childhood Education?  This may be the opportunity for you!

WCAP’s Early Childhood Program serves children and families in Waldo County.  We work with children ages birth to five years old.

The Lead Teacher provides developmentally appropriate preschool education that advances the cognitive, language, physical, social and emotional growth for a classroom of up to 20 children.  Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all existing state child care licensing regulations and federal Head Start Program Performance Standards.

Duties include but are not limited to:

1) Provide oversight of center in absence of the Site Manager.

2) Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy environment.

3) Plans and implements developmentally appropriate educational activities.

4) Follows chosen curricula.

5) Provides oversight of children’s development in the classroom including conducting observations of each child’s developmental progress, completing developmental and social-emotional assessments, conducting family conferences and home visits.

1) Must be able to pass a physical examination and TB screening. 2) Must have adequate transportation, a valid driver's license and meet WCAP's insurance requirements. 3) Must meet WCAP's background clearance requirements. 4) Valid Criminal Record History Check (CHRC) through DOE. 5) Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have an approved medical/religious exemption on file.


1) Experience teaching, preferably with preschool-age children. 2) Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. 3) Strong communication skills, organizational and time management skills. Education Requirements: You must meet one of the following education requirements: 1) Bachelor's degree in early childhood education with an 081 Credential (full or conditional). 2) Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's Degree in a field related to ECE or any subject with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education. College transcripts must demonstrate a minimum of 24 credit hours related to ECE specific content areas. 3) An Associate's Degree in ECE. 4) A Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA).
Pay Rate: 17.50 - 19.75 per hour
