Are you interested in a career in Early Childhood Education?  Looking to get your foot in the door?  Waldo Community Action Partners is hiring for a Classroom Aide for its Early Childhood Program!

WCAP’s Early Childhood Program serves children and families in Waldo County.  We work with children ages birth to five years old.

The Classroom Aide acts as a program support person in the classroom, assisting teaching staff with meal service and with classroom duties to meet all Head Start and Early Head Start performance and Day Care Licensing Standards.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Food Service:

Assists food service personnel with preparation, serving and clean up of meals served in the program as needed.

Classroom Responsibility:

Assists Teachers with classroom activities and routines on a daily basis including:

Responding quickly in cases of emergency.

Getting at the child’s level during times of communication, meals and play.

Lifts, holds, and stabilizes children for handwashing, diapering and toileting, and comforting upset children.

Sits on the floor for times of play and cleaning.

Assists with transitioning to and from playground and supervision of playground activities.

Participates in meal time management.

Participates in child development activities as instructed by teachers.

Assumes classroom responsibilities when necessary for the teacher to be out of the room.


1) Must be able to pass a physical examination and TB screening. 2) Must have adequate transportation, a valid driver's license and meet WCAP's insurance requirements. 3) Must meet WCAP's background clearance requirements. 4) Valid Criminal Record History Check (CHRC) through DOE. 5) Be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption.


1) At least one year of experience in preschool or infant-toddler classroom preferred. 2) Must be flexible and able to work with multiple staff members and volunteers. 3) Data entry proficiency preferred. 4) Achieve and maintain First Aid and CPR certification. 5) High School Graduate or equivalent. 6) Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.
Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour
