Located in Portland, ME, Morrison Place, with a capacity of 12 adults, provides transitional housing and treatment for homeless individuals who have a major mental illness and/or a substance use disorder.

Through a structured, peer-oriented program, the staff at Morrison Place assist clients in maintaining recovery while moving from an intensive rehabilitation setting to increased independence and integration into the community. The program provides continuous support, structure, and intervention to individuals whose dual diagnosis can cause immediate crises related to substance abuse, chronic mental illness, or the complex interaction of these two problems.

This Program Coordinator position provides system support to all direct care positions to meet and maintain highest standard of client care. This is an assistant management position of a clinical and administrative nature. This position contributes to the accomplishment of the Agency’s mission through assisting the Director in program oversight and providing some leadership to program direct service workers.

This is a supervisory position and work is performed, reviewed, and evaluated under the supervision of the Program Director.

This is a full-time, 40 hours/week, position located on-site in Portland.

Requirements:

High School Diploma required. Must become certified as Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician 1 (MHRT1) within 1 year of employment, then maintain required trainings to uphold continuous MHRT1 status. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check. Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list. Must pass CNA registry check. Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and TB screen. Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, driving, typing and frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 25 pounds. Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.

Qualifications:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred. One to three years of experience in mental health field a plus.
