Description:

The City of Portland has an exciting opening at the Barron Center. The Barron Center is a 219-bed skilled and long-term nursing care facility located on outer Brighton Avenue. Hours:

Full Time – 11AM – 7PM, One weekend per month required

Duties & Requirements:

  • Position requires strong organizational skills and must plan and conduct leisure activities based on needs and interests of the residents through individual and group activities.
  • The successful candidate will document resident attendance at activities, write resident progress notes and participate in care planning conferences.
  • We are looking for a dynamic individual who is energetic and creative to be part of our team.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be passionate about working with elders and disabled individuals.
  • May oversee activities and work of volunteers assigned to assist with programs.
  • Candidates must be able and willing to drive a 12 passenger, handicapped accessible vehicle
  • Experience with MDS, care plans and assessments preferred.
  • Qualified candidates have graduated from high school or have a two year degree in therapeutic recreation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Activity Coordinator Certificate is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid State of Maine Class C Driver’s license.

Salary & Benefits:

This is a union position, CEBA (Grade 7) – Starting pay range $18.40 – $20.00/hr.
