Midcoast Maine Community Action (MMCA), a community services agency, is seeking qualified applicants to fill openings in our Head Start centers in Bath, Brunswick, and Newcastle, Maine. The program provides a continuum of services for children ages three to five encompassing education, family engagement, health, nutrition and disabilities content.
Responsibilities: Teachers are responsible for daily planning and implementation of the early childhood curriculum; providing a safe, nurturing learning environment; and supervising the classroom to ensure a smooth flow of daily activities and events. Working together as part of the center team, the teachers conduct child assessments, meet with families, encourage parent engagement in their children’s education, and serve as role models for parents in educating their children.
MMCA uses Pre-K for ME curriculum, Second Step, and the Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) Assessment System is in our pre-kindergarten classrooms. Orientation and training are provided in curriculum and all other aspects of pre-kindergarten programming and learning.
Head Start teacher positions are full-time, 40 hours per week and are school year (44 to 46 weeks). MMCA has openings in its Bath, Brunswick, and Newcastle Centers.
