Teachers are responsible for daily planning and implementation of the early childhood curriculum; providing a safe, nurturing learning environment; and supervising the classroom to ensure a smooth flow of daily activities and events. Working together as part of the center team, the teachers conduct child assessments, meet with families, encourage parent engagement in their children’s education, and serve as role models for parents in educating their children.

Head Start teacher positions are full-time, 40 hours per week and are school year schedule including school breaks.

Pay ranges: $14.70 to $20.10 dependent on experience, credential, and other qualifications.  Head Start Teachers are currently also eligible for a $200-per-month bonus and a $2,500 sign-on bonus payable in 3 installments. (Additional compensation will be paid to teachers with 081 certification who are teaching in one of our public-school collaboration classrooms.)

Qualifications:

• An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field is required. Infant-Toddler or Pre-K Child Development Associates certification may be considered if accompanied by prior related experience. • Applicants with 081 certification will be given preference in public school pre-kindergarten collaboration classrooms. • Prior experience working with young children is essential; must have an interest in working with children from low-income families. • Must be able to lift a child (up to approximately 40 pounds) and be capable of physically bending to a child's level or sitting on the floor.
