Maine Department of Corrections is accepting applications for Correctional Officers at the following facilities:

• Maine Correctional Center, Windham, ME
• Maine State Prison, Warren, ME

These positions are open to all outside candidates and to current Maine DOC Correctional Officers who wish to transfer.

As a Correctional Officer, your work will involve the custody, security, discipline, treatment, and rehabilitation of committed adult inmates. This includes monitoring prisoner behavior, directing and overseeing prisoner activities, enforcing prisoner discipline and writing incident reports.  This position requires exposure to chemical agents (OC Spray).

Pay Grade: 16 $20.70 – $24.15 hourly

This rate does not include $1/hr. institutional stipend and does not include applicable night or weekend shift differentials.

BENEFITS

The bi-weekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits for full-time employees include: $14.60 for dental insurance;19.63% of employee’s pay towards retirement; and, depending on the employee’s annual pay, at least 85% ($412.23) of health insurance premiums (more information is available here). Participation in the Health Premium Credit Program can decrease the employee’s cost of health insurance by 5%.
