The Finance Department is looking for a qualified individual to join their dynamic team. The ideal individual will be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, general knowledge of the A/P cycle, and be able to handle multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment.

Job Summary:

The primary function of this position is Accounts Payable, with some responsibilities involving cash handling and assistance with general accounting. Providing administrative support in the financial arena requires diligence, attention to detail, and handling of sensitive and confidential information.

Functions of the position include but are not limited to:

-Timely and accurate processing & payment of all invoices
-Maintaining vendor files
-Assisting in preparing monthly journal entries
-Assisting in monthly reconciliation of GL accounts
-Assisting in year-end reporting, including issuance of 1099’s
-Performing a variety of additional accounting duties as assigned

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-The ‘Accounts Payable’ function involves the processing of incoming bills, obtaining approvals, and coding for the General Ledger. Must enter Accounts Payable data into computer, print, verify, match and distribute checks. Computerized and paper file maintenance includes open Accounts Payable files, paid vendor files, and vendor information data. Accounts Payable Coordinator must develop end-of-month Accounts Payable accrual reports. Reconciles individual program petty cash and generate year end forms.
-The Accounts Payable Coordinator will use proper ergonomic procedures and techniques at all times to avoid repetitive motion or any other physical injury. Actively participates in and promotes an accident free work environment.
-The Accounts Payable Coordinator must maintain confidentiality concerning all the information being handled; all activities must be honest and legal. Professional conduct and a high degree of integrity are expected at all times. Job tasks are to be completed with a high degree of accuracy while meeting fiscal and monthly deadlines.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. May be asked to participate on JFM committees or work on a variety of projects and produce reports at the request of the supervisor.
2. Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.

Job Components – Classification Factors:

Education Requirements:

Associate’s Degree in Accounting, or the equivalent in education and close-related work experience is required

Experience and Skill Requirements:

At least one year relevant work experience is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Work, strong analytical ability and attention to detail.

Complexities:

Responsibility for planning and organizing day-to-day routine. Consists of duties that involve related processes or methods.

Accountability:

Some opportunity for error, but work activities are confined to a small portion of the organization.

Internal Communication:

Frequent contacts with others on the same or higher levels in other parts of the organization.

External Communication:

Occasional contacts of importance, possibly involving working out problems with tact and flexibility of viewpoint.

Supervision:

Not normally required to supervise other employees.
