The Freeport Sewer District is currently accepting applications for a Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator to work with team members within the Operations group encompassing Maintenance, Collections, and Laboratory staff.

This is a full-time entry level position with great pay, medical insurance, and paid time off, and the opportunity to participate in an employee/employer funded 401K retirement program.

The Wastewater Operator-in-Training performs various entry-level work characterized by a routine, and often repetitive nature. Work is closely supervised, and changes or deviations are explained in detail.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

·         Learn to monitor plant and field processes, including solids processing; monitor computer alarms, instruments, gauges, and meters for process control.

·         Learn to keep operation logs and records, including meter and gauge readings.

·         Learn to collect samples and perform routine biological and chemical test/analyses, record sampling and test results, and prepare samples for testing in the central laboratory as needed.

·         Learn Collection system operations, involving pump station and pipeline operations, maintenance, and inspection.

·         Performs general plant, building, and ground preventative maintenance throughout the facility.

This is a great career opportunity to learn the many skills involved in operating a modern wastewater utility district. Starting pay is $23.00 per hour.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Weekdays – 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Overtime can happen but is not a regular occurrence.

After the probationary period you will be entered in the on-call rotation.

Must be 18 years of age to apply and must possess a valid State of Maine driver’s license in good standing.
