Fair Dermody Consulting Engineers is looking for a motivated Intern Drafter to support a small team in producing professional, economical, and commonsense plans and specifications for railroad bridge repair and design projects. ALL skill levels from SMCC/CMCC/EMCC/KVCC/YCCC Architectural Engineering & Design program encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Interpret existing bridge plans (dating up to 125 years old)
Draft existing conditions of steel, concrete, and timber railroad bridges
Work closely with engineers to draft proposed conditions for bridge rehabilitation projects (mostly 2D drawings)
Generate bill of materials
Create final deliverables for railroad bridge repair/replacement projects for review by a Professional Engineer
Minimum Qualifications:
Pursuing Associates Degree in CAD
Experience in AutoCAD
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Skills/Abilities Desired:
Willingness to learn
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated and willing to take responsibility
Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus
We accommodate flexible work schedules (accommodate school schedules) and have a dog friendly office located in Portland. Working location can be Remote, Hybrid, or in office.
Additional opportunities can be provided to candidates interested in railroad bridge inspection.
Part time. Flexible start date.
