The Van/Bus Driver is responsible for providing timely, professional transit services to our children enrolled in our Head Start program at the Chisholm Center. The position is 20 hrs per week, with the schedule generally falling from Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., varying by the route, and generally following a school-year calendar. Daily schedules may include downtime of up to two hours, and work hours are based on service needs. Occasional evening and/or overnight training may be required.

Requirements:
A pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, sex offender registry, DHHS fingerprinting, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment. Must have a valid driver’s license and liability insurance. Must obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. In-house training is offered to the selected individual.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
Drivers must have current certifications or complete the following trainings (agency paid) before transporting passengers:
• CPR First Aid
• Passenger Assistance and Safety
• Defensive Driving
• Classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction sufficient to enable the driver to operate the vehicle safely and efficiently, run a fixed route safely, administer basic first aid in case of injury, and handle emergency situations, including vehicle evacuation and routine maintenance.
Considerable stamina is needed to bend, lift, carry, etc.
