Community Concepts is seeking an Events and Volunteer Manager who will work closely with Maine Resiliency Center (MRC) Leadership Team. This newly created position will be responsible for the MRC’s event planning and will focus on building and stewarding a volunteer program. To be successful in this role, you must have in-depth knowledge of event planning, project management disciplines, leadership skills, and volunteer coordination and training. This position requires the utmost professionalism, the ability to cultivate relationships, and the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs and priorities of the MRC.

The Maine Resiliency Center was developed in the aftermath of the mass shooting event in Lewiston, ME, on October 25th, 2023. The Center provides resources and support to those impacted by this mass violence event.  This position is 40 hours and a temporary position, up to 23 months, with the possibility of an extension.

Essential Duties:

Plan and oversee the successful implementation of the MRC’s events, including participation in community outreach and donor and community events.
Work with staff and external partners to design and implement plans to execute event-related strategies.
Coordinate all planning details, including, but not limited to, pre-event planning, event day execution, presenter recruitment, post-event activities, and communications to internal stakeholders, external partners, and volunteers.
Collaborate internally on cross-functional work such as communications, sponsor relationships, volunteers, visitor experiences, and facilities needs.
Build a volunteer program for the center to engage our corporate and community partners in our work and to provide opportunities for them to experience deeper connections to Maine Resiliency Center through volunteerism.
Serve as a primary volunteer liaison and coordinator, from recruitment and relationship-building to logistical coordination, project oversight, and training.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field preferred.

Other Requirements:

Experience in event planning, marketing, corporate relationships, volunteer management, or related experience; Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work creatively within budget. Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.  Excellent people and communication skills. Experience working with volunteers and volunteer management; Able to work well in a team environment and handle multiple assignments with competing deadlines; proficient computer skills for data accuracy.
