Status: Full Time- 37.5 hours/week
Grade: 16 [$21.63 – $24.37/hour] depending on experience
SCHEDULE: Full time hours are scheduled between 9am-7pm Mon-Thurs and 9am-5pm Fri-Sat.
SUMMARY: The Lewiston Public Library is seeking a dynamic individual with excellent customer service and technology skills to work as a Library Technician.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An associates degree or equivalent from a college or technical school plus 1-2 years previous public library experience is ideal; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Applicants should have a high level of computer and technology literacy. Experience with integrated library software systems, MARC records and cataloging standards is preferred. Must have strong communication skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and efficient time management skills.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Catalog materials in all formats and assist with maintaining the library’s materials database. Assist with inventory management and other collection maintenance functions. Takes a leadership role in keeping track of magazine and newspaper subscriptions. Will occasionally work at the Reference Desk in Adult & Teen Services. May occasionally work at public service desks as needed. Candidates should possess a high level of initiative and flexibility along with excellent communication and collaboration skills; an understanding of new technologies, including social networking; and will be able to deliver a high level of customer service while working in a fast-paced environment. Work cooperatively with library staff locally and statewide. Performs other duties as assigned.
The Lewiston Public Library is open Mon-Thurs 9:30am-7:00pm; Friday and Saturday 9:30am-1:00pm.
