Accepting applications for YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAM AIDE with the City of Lewiston’s Recreation Department. Applications are available at the Human Resources Department or online at www.lewistonmaine.gov.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Department:    Recreation

Barg. Unit:       Maine Service Employees Association (MSEA)

Status:             Full-Time

Grade:             13 [$20.60 – $23.17 / hourly]

Schedule:        May include evening and weekend hours as needed for activities, events and programs.

SUMMARY: Assist with coordinating recreations activities geared toward youth and family engagement to support the expanding opportunities available through the Lewiston Recreation Department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Degree in Recreation, Leisure Service Administration, Education, or related field, and two (2) years recreational programming experience- or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Maine driver’s license, in good standing.

WORK ACTIVITIES: Plan and implement out-of-school time programs, including vacation camps, summer camps, and afterschool programming. Recruit participants, assist with registration and inform families of policies and procedures using website information updates, program promotional materials and social media. Develop family engagement programs such as holiday events, family drop-in programs and family outreach. Maintain accurate records of program participation, attendance and costs associated, to include recommending purchases and budgetary items. Ensure safety and well-being of all participants. Communicate with schools and youth-focused groups regarding upcoming opportunities. Provide on-site supervision of programs, and excellent customer service and communication- via multiple platforms – to all visitors and program participants. Perform other duties as assigned.
