Status: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Grade: 6 [$26.46 – $39.10 /hour]
SUMMARY: The Senior Lineperson performs electrical work related to installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s street and traffic lighting system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma, or equivalent, and at least four (4) years experience in electrical and line work. Must possess a valid State of Maine Journeyman Electrician license and a valid, State of Maine Class B CDL. Position moves to pay grade level 7 upon successfully obtaining Master Electrician license. **Willing to train the right candidate. Those interested are encouraged to apply.**
WORK ACTIVITIES: Perform electrical work related to City equipment, buildings and structures, controls, and hydro facility. Estimate and procure materials for completion of projects. Install and repair overhead wiring, insulators and cables. Set and raise poles, climb poles relative to overhead work. Install, inspect and repair transformers, cross arms, wire and street light fixtures, traffic signals, controllers, suspension cables, pedestrian call stations, loop and video detectors and other related equipment. Change burned out or broken streetlights and paint street light poles. Inspects turbines, generators, penstocks, hydraulic pressure units and civil structures. Respond to Dig Safe system requests, locate and mark underground electrical utilities owned and operated by the City. May act as a temporary electrical inspector as needed to cover for the occasional absence of the primary Electrical Inspector. Performs other duties as assigned.
