Status:             Part-Time/Temporary

Hours:             19 hours/week; 8:00a-4:30p Mon-Fri

Grade:             Starting pay $22.28 hourly

SUMMARY: The Social Services Case Worker determines eligibility for applicants for the General Assistance Program and provides general referral services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school, and a minimum six (6) months related experience and training, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with social casework, local community resources and working with a diverse population is required. Preference given to multi-lingual individuals who speak any of the following: English, French, Lingala, or Portuguese.

WORK ACTIVITIES: Determines initial and continued eligibility of applicants for general assistance by identifying immediate and long term needs. Works with applicants and other social service agencies to gather complete social and financial histories and other relevant information. Provides referrals, assistance with personal, family finance, health, education and employment issues. Prepares case histories and completes related clerical work, forms, and necessary documentation. Participates in training, staff meetings and other informational avenues to continually update job knowledge in the areas of computer programs, general assistance laws and state and local policies. Performs other related duties as required.
