Behavior Specialists will work with campers age 7-16, staff and parents to assist and coordinate care for campers and staff who need extra support for homesickness, behavioral or mental health issues.

Provide in depth assessments of campers who require extra support while reporting to the Health Center Administrator and Camp Director, and providing the Head Counselors and Group Leaders with recommendations of extra support as needed.

Other duties would include:
Providing support to assist camps staff and counselors in working with campers who need additional or advanced support.
Working and consulting with parents, outside counselors, doctors, etc., to provide a safe and accepting environment for campers.
Provide behavioral interventions and support for campers needing assistance outside of the camp staff and counselors comfort level.
Provide support to staff as needed.
On occasion you are also responsible for contacting families about camper physical and mental health issues.

Our Mental Health Care Specialists, while working within their medical limit of expertise, may be required to assist the nursing staff responsible for the preliminary evaluation of symptoms, complaints, and injuries, providing support and consulting when needed, while providing assistance and support with treatment and follow-up based on each medical situation. working within their medical limit of expertise

Reports to: Health Center Administrator, Camp Director, and Executive Director

Desired Qualifications and Experience.

Previous experiences working as a healthcare professional.

Ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner, experience in behavioral and/or mental health issues across various age groups. A working knowledge and experience of behavioral risk assessments, interventions, parent communication and confidentiality. Experience in providing positive behavioral and/or mental health support and interventions to campers, parents and staff as needed. Ability to work morning and evenings when the campers are most likely to be exhibiting behavioral challenges. Strong observation skills in order to monitor and support campers and staff for needs assessments. Be able to be available to campers, staff and administration on an as needed basis.

$600 – $800 per week (room and board included)
$500 per week with 1 camper free tuition
$250 per week with 2 camper free tuition

Physical Aspects of the Job:
­Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift/assist campers and staff.
­Ability to read and follow the directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters.
­Ability to use a telephone.
Ability to operate a computer and use basic programs
­Maintain a written record system.
­Ability to quickly get to remote locations on camp property over uneven terrain.
­Observe and assess sanitation and safety conditions of the camp.
­Ability to communicate with parents, staff, and administration about camper health concerns.
­Possess endurance to meet emergency needs.
