C.L.H. & Son, Inc., is a family-owned business incorporated in 1979. We specialize in lining culverts for Federal, State and Municipal projects throughout the New England States. We also do residential and commercial site work, utilities and rough landscaping. We are dedicated to delivering quality work with honesty and integrity.  Company ownership was transferred to the founders’ grandson in 2015, but we’re happy to say that our founders remain active in the business today.

Compensation:

  • Starting at $26/hr we pay competitively and will adjust commensurate with experience.  Bonus eligible.  Wage differentials are paid for overnight projects.
  • Travel: When traveling, employees are paid for travel to and from the site, in a company vehicle; they are paid regular wages for travel time. CLH covers normal travel expenses such as hotel rooms and daily per-diems for meals.
  • Paid personal time off: one week after 12 months, 2 weeks after three years and 3 weeks after 10 years
  • Paid holiday time off: 7 holidays (New Year Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)  plus one floater
  • Retirement savings:  Simple IRA with 3% match
  • Healthcare: we provide a healthcare stipend of up to $400/month to reimburse employees for their healthcare premiums.

Requirements:

Manage a team(s). Recognize and adapt to individuals’ strengths. Set daily and weekly goals for each team member, and the team as a whole to encourage working together productively. Ensure each team member is meeting expectations. Adapt your team to field conditions. No one can predict with 100% certainty how a job will progress, therefore you must bring creative thinking and problem solving to tackle issues as they arise. Ensure compliance with OSHA and other legal and safety mandates. Perform inspections, or get them performed by appropriate authority. Materials & equipment ordering. It is your job to ensure that the right materials and equipment are available on the job site for employees to use at the right time. Scheduling. You are responsible for scheduling your team members to ensure that project deadlines will be met, as well as scheduling material delivery and equipment as needed. Project management. You are responsible for keeping your team on time and on budget, and communicating proactively with your manager when issues arise. Submit employee time cards, employee dailys, your daily report and overall project reports to your manager in a timely manner. Keep your job sites safe and clean.

Qualifications:

3+ years of leadership experience, preferably managing a team of 4+ people. 1+ years construction project management experience, managing crews on multiple sites a plus. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Valid driver’s license. OSHA certified, or ability to pass the exam. US citizen or permanent resident. Ability to travel 50% of the time (may be more or less depending on active projects). Ability to pass a background check. Experience operating heavy equipment a plus. CDL a plus - class A or B.
