Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant job in Lewiston, Maine is responsible for month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts receivable invoicing, and other tasks supporting corporate financial operations. You’ll have a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and compliance standards, including OMB Circular A-122. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position, with hours generally from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Collaborate with the Financial Analyst and provide backup as needed
• Assist with annual audits and budget preparation
• Maintain compliance with applicable financial regulations

Staff Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Business Administration preferred; 4–7 years of equivalent experience may substitute
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience with Abila MIP Software preferred
• Knowledge of non-profit accounting is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lift/carry equipment up to 30 lbs. and adapt to a fast-paced environment

Staff Accountant Job Details:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
• Pay Rate: $28–$30/hour (negotiable)
• Start Date: ASAP
