Team Leadership Workshop

Start Date: April 2, 2025 – April 3, 2025 (8am-4:30pm)

The Team Leader Workshop will give team leaders and supervisors the interpersonal, leadership, and coaching skills they need to successfully manage their team. Upon completion of the workshop, team leaders will be better positioned to assist their team-members and their organizations to do their best work.

Introduction to Phlebotomy

Start Date: Spring 2025

Students enrolled in this Phlebotomy course will learn both theory and practical skills. Theory topics will include working in healthcare, health and safety, troubleshooting difficult draws and working with all demographics from neonatal to geriatric patients. Coursework includes selecting and preparing the skin puncture site, collecting specimens, adhering to the proper health and safety guidelines, patient/technician relationship, and proper record keeping of laboratory tests. Learners will be able to sit for the National Healthcareer Association’s Phlebotomy Technician certification exam because the course includes the hands-on live stick component. Upon completion, students may qualify for employment in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, and other healthcare settings.

Commercial Driving License (CDL) B Course

THE CDL B training program at Central Maine Community College provides students with the skill set and preparedness to pass the permit and State of Maine road exam through a combination of road and range instruction, in collaboration with classroom EDLT readiness from a qualified instructor. Occupations requiring CDL B licensure provide flexible and lucrative job opportunities for individuals with a desire to enter the commercial driving industry. A Class B CDL, with proper endorsement, offers opportunities to operate dump trucks, box trucks, large passenger buses, segmented buses, and straight trucks.  This program is a 10-week free program to Maine residents, over the age of 18. Students are required to possess a valid Maine driver’s license and engage in mandated drug pool testing and DOT physical completion.

EPA 608 Refrigerant Certificate Training

Saturdays; 48 hours; Zoom

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) 608 Refrigerant Certification for Small Appliances is instructor-led online. It is designed to prepare technicians for the EPA 608 certification exam which includes:

• Core Certification (general knowledge of refrigerants)
• Type 1 (repair and service of small appliances using refrigerant) Type 2 (high-pressure refrigerant i.e., Ductless Mini Split Heat Pumps and/or Type 3 (Universal License)

This course is not intended to be a formal refrigeration training course. Technicians who take this course should be familiar with basic vapor-compression refrigeration cycles and common service equipment and procedures.

Fiber Optic Technician Certification

The Fiber Optic Technician Certification Course is held in person at Central Maine Community College. The course is designed to prepare students with the necessary skills to become FBA Certified Fiber Optic Technicians.

Upon completion, students will have covered the fundamental principles of:

• Properly installing, testing, and maintaining FTTx networks
• Splicing, terminating, testing, and commissioning fiber optic cable

Land Surveyor Technician I

Start Date: Accepting inquiries for 2025

This 15-hour course is taught by an industry professional. The cost of the certification is included in the grant funding. The Survey Technician I course provides preparatory training for a nationally recognized Land Survey Technician certification.
