Honors Bestowed at CMCC Annual DinnerA “Celebration of Excellence” was the theme of the second Central Maine Community College Annual Dinner held recently at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn. Approximately 200 people attended the event which was sponsored by the College’s Education Foundation Board of Directors. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to individuals and organizations that were noted for their achievements or contributions to the College. The following students were honored: Aimee Pratt of Lewiston and Robyn Jorgensen of Sabattus for being named to the All-Maine Academic Team; Tyler Smithgall of Winthrop and Kerri Harris of Brewer, Male and Female Athletes of the Year; Kayla Keith of Lewiston and Kevin Thompson of Alfred, Scholarship Recipients of the Year; Matthew Fish of North Turner and Theo Record of Auburn, “Against All Odds” Awards; Lewis Pratt of Lewiston, Student of the Year. Betsy Libby of New Gloucester, acting dean of student services was honored as the Staff Person of the Year. The Faculty Member of the Year award was given to Anne Schuettinger of Bridgton, who serves as chair of the nursing program. Mike Lajoie, ‘66, of Lewiston was given the Alumnus of the Year Award. Lajoie was a member of the College’s first graduating class. The Corporate Partner of the Year Award went to the Androscoggin Chamber and the President’s Award was given to Mechanics Savings Bank. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Foundation’s scholarship fund. The mission of the CM Education Foundation is to provide financial support to Central Maine Community College and its students, to advocate on behalf of the college, and to nurture relationships with the community and constituencies. The Foundation also serves in an advisory capacity to help evaluate CMCC programming and course offerings.
