Interlibrary Loan

Did you know you can order articles which are not full text?  Simply bring a copy of the citation to a Librarian, and we will order it from another library.

Primary Search This database provides full text to nearly 70 popular magazines for elementary school research.  Full text articles are designated a lexile (reading level) indicator.

Academic Search Premier This database covers a broad range of disciplines and is often a good place to start research.  This database is intended for Academic Libraries. It provides full text for roughly 4,650 journals, including full text for over 3,600 peer-reviewed journals. Backfiles to over 100 older journals are provided via PDF files, and older references are available for over 1,000 other journals.

Masterfile Premier This multidisciplinary database is intended for public library users.  It provides full text to roughly 1,950 reference publications.  Full text information goes back to 1975.  It also includes the full text of 500 reference books, 84,011 biographies, 83,472 primary source documents, and an image collection of photos, flags, and maps.

Proquest There are multiple databases in Proquest, including the Career & Technical Education, News, Psychology, and Sociology databases.

Internet Resources

Use internet resources with care.  Remember you should always evaluate the quality of web pages you choose to use for your research.  They can be the 'junk food' of information; they're quick, easy to find, but aren't really nutritious. Some instructors have restrictions on what or how many (if any at all) web sites you can use.

U.S. Department of Education Home Page Searchable web site with an excellent index covering all aspects of Education in the United States.

Maine Department of Education Topics in this Maine education web site range from grant information to standards and assessment. It is searchable.

Education WorldŽ The Educator's Best Friend This website is intended for K-12 teachers and administrators.  It includes lesson plans, links to over 120,000 reviewed education web sites, curriculum information as well as a whole host of other information. There is an advanced search feature, links to holiday resources and archives.

The Educator's Reference Desk Includes a resource collection of web links relating to a wide variety of education issues, a collection of over 2,000 lesson plans, and a question and answer archive of over 200 frequently asked questions.

Child Care and Early Education Research Connections (CCEERC) A free organization that provides access to original research, datasets, statistics, instruments, and state data tools.  Used by researchers and policymakers.

ERIC Database provided by the U.S. Department of Education.  Its coverage is different from the database provided by EBSCO.  There are over a million citations and more than 100,000 full-text non-journal documents.

Yahoo! Education A directory of web sites related to education. Topics are organized into over 3 dozen broad categories. This site is also searchable.
