If you’re considering a career as a technical support specialist, a field service technician or as an IT support specialist The CompTIA A+ course is your first step. This course is an introduction to the installation, maintenance and repair of PCs and related equipment and to introduce students to operating systems compatible with today’s personal computers. It provides students with an understanding of PC environments including system components, peripherals, and component/card interface and the fundamentals of repairs. The course will familiarize students with the major features and functions of each operating system and build competencies and familiarity with operational aspects of the software. This course is designed to prepare students for the A+ exam.
At the end of this course students should be able to:
- Define terminology listed in the CompTIA A+ Acronyms list
- Assemble components based on customer requirements
- Install, configure and maintain devices, PCs and software for end users
- Understand the basics of networking and security/forensics
- Properly and safely diagnose, resolve and document common hardware and software issues
- Apply troubleshooting skills
- Provide appropriate customer support
- Understand the basics of virtualization, desktop imaging and deployment
- Prepare to take and successfully pass the CompTIA A+ 220-901 and 220-902 exams

Cost: The cost for this certification prep course is $2,000 and includes 63 hours of expert guided instruction, and all course materials to include: six-month access to a practice exam, Tool Kit, TestOut PC Pro access for eighteen months, and two exam vouchers (total instruction materials package has a retail value of $1024). CMCC also has a testing center conveniently located on campus.
