Students living on campus enjoy many advantages that enhance their educational experience. From quick access to classrooms and campus facilities to having meals prepared for them, many students seek the experience that living on campus provides. But living on campus in not everyone. To help you decide, use the FAQ's below to decide if becoming a resident student is right for you. How many residence halls are there and what are they like?
CM has 4 residence halls; Rancourt, Fortin Hall, and 2 apartment-style buildings. All rooms in Fortin Hall are either double or triple occupancy, the apartments offer singles and doubles and Rancourt offers two to a room with a bathroom. Roommates are assigned before residents arrive by either personal preference that you have requested, or through other means such as similar majors or same home towns.

  • Smoking is prohibited in all buildings
  • There are kitchen facilities in Fortin (Students are asked to bring their own cookware and cleaning products)
  • Fortin Hall has a game room and a TV lounge (billiards, ping-pong, foosball and other games are available)
Where will I eat?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served Monday though Friday. On weekends, there is brunch from 11:30a.m.-12:30p.m. Students are responsible for their evening meal. On scheduled vacations and holiday weekends, the last meal will be the noon meal on the last day of class. The next meal served will be breakfast on the day classes resume.
No; each resident must bring his or her own sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, etc. Each hall does have laundry facilities. All machines are coin-operated. The cost ranges from $0.50 to $1.00 per use.
 
Yes; refrigerators are permitted, providing they do not exceed 2.5 cubic feet. Any refrigerators over that size are NOT ALLOWED and will be removed from the campus. Rentals are not available through CM; however, all apartments come with one refrigerator. You may still bring an additional refrigerator if you require another for your own personal use.
 
Not at all; CM feels that as adults, you can come and go as you wish. It is, however, important for all students to carry their keys with them at all times. Each main entrance is locked nightly at 11:00p.m.
 
Each residence hall has a quiet hour rule in effect nightly from Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday quiet hours are 11:00 pm to 9:00 a.m. We also work on the premise that all students deserve a place that is conducive to success. We always accommodate the person making a concerted effort to succeed at college. CM reserves the right to implement new quiet hours at any time.
 
Yes. All vehicles MUST be registered with Student Services as well as the Resident Director. Students must park in the designated on-campus parking areas. Parking permits are FREE!
Note:
All students are subject to vehicle dismissal. Students must abide by the rules set forth for campus driving. Any "peeling out," "donuts," parking or driving on the grass, or speeding are cause for banning the student from driving and/or having any vehicle on campus.
 
Mail is delivered to the school and dispersed to the student population via Fortin Hall's delivery system. Students with mail will have their name placed on a board. In order for the student to pickup his/her mail they must ask a Resident Assistant to get it.
 
Yes; during vacation the residence halls are closed and all the residents must vacate the halls. Each resident will be informed in advance when the halls will be closing/opening so they may make the necessary arrangements.
Note: Typical vacations are as follows:
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • Spring Break (March)
Popcorn poppers, hair appliances, electric shavers, irons, and coffee makers are permitted. TV sets and stereos are also allowed. Toaster ovens, microwaves, hot plates, electric frying pans and the like are NOT PERMITTED and will be removed from the facility. Candles and incense are ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED! These items are fire hazards.
 
 
Yes; all of the rooms are hooked up and ready to go for full cable access. The cost is included in your Room/Board package.
 
Most definitely! CM provides a connection from each room. This network connection allows fast access to the Internet and is included in your package.

Note:
Students must supply their own network card for the Internet connection.

Residents much comply with CMCC Dorm Computer and Internet Access Policy to use the Internet.

Resident Assistant:
The Resident Assistant, (a.k.a. RA), is a full-time student. RAs have typically lived in the residence halls for at least a year and have been through some of the things that new students will go through. The RAs have been carefully selected and trained in such areas as peer counseling, activity programming, substance abuse, and other areas necessary for the job. RAs are not cops, parents, therapists or social directors. RAs are in a position to help enforce the rules and most importantly help the students adjust and get along during the year. These people enjoy working with others and have taken this role in order to help people. Rules are necessary and RAs must enforce them in order to keep their job and continue to pay for their education. When you arrive, please give the RAs the respect they deserve. They work hard to help you. Please work hard to help them.

Resident Directors:
The Resident Directors (RD) is a full-time professional who manages the day-to-day operations of Residential Life. The RD's are there to help students succeed at college. The RDs supervise and coordinate the RAs. The RDs enforces rules and helps students understand the way housing works. The RDs are there for every student at any time.

Director Of Housing:
The Director of Housing is the person who manages the housing complex and supervises the RD and RAs. The Housing Director is there to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

The cost of housing covers your room, 17 meals a week, Cable TV, E-2 Internet access, and free admission to all CM sporting events.

 
First-Year Students:
Upon your acceptance to CM, you should fill out and return the Residence Hall Application as soon as possible. Completing this application does not assure you a room on campus; however, the date in which the deposit was paid does determine your place in line for a room the earlier the better. Residence Hall Applications will be acted upon 60 days prior to the start of school. You will be notified of your status before July 1st.

Second-Year Students:
First year students will have preference in regards to room selection. Second year students may be allowed to live in the Residence Hall based on availability, conduct, school involvement, academic record and traveling distance. 2nd Year Student Residence Hall Re-Application.
