Dave Gonyea, Head Coach

Coach Gonyea enters his 11th season as head coach with an impressive 272-115 record over the last ten seasons. Originally from Windham Maine, Gonyea attended Windham High School and graduated from the University of Southern Maine. He also serves as the Athletic Director of CM.

He was named 1996-97 New England Coach of the Year, 1998-99 and 2000-01 NSCAA Athletic Director of the Year, 2002 USCAA Athletic Director and 1998-1999, 1999-2000, 2000-2001, 2001-2002, 2002-2003, MSCC Coach of the Year. Coach Gonyea was also named Yankee Conference Coach of the year in 2007-08

Under Gonyea's leadership the Mustangs have won seven out of eight league championships and have made two trips to the NSCAA National Tournament in Salina, Kansas. This past year they won yet another MSCC title.

Under Gonyea's direction as the A.D. and coach, he brought the NSCAA (forerunner to current USCAA) National Championship to Auburn, Maine. Coach Gonyea captured the first USCAA Athletic Director of the Year award.

He also led the Mustangs to their first ever National Championship in 2002 capturing the USCAA Division 2 banner. He has led the team into the National Tournament seven of the last nine years.


Darren Winchenbach, Assistant Coach

Coach Winchenbach aka Double "D" enters his fourth year on the sidelines. Coach is best known as a player who gave it all throughout his career. Loyalty and dedication are his middle names.

He graduated from CM with dual degrees in Automotive Technology and Parts and Service Management. His claim to fame was his role on the 2001-02 USCAA Championship team.

Darren works at a local dealership and has been a CM supporter since his graduation.


Jeff Brackett, Assistant Coach

Coach Brackett enters his third season with the Mustangs. He spent the previous three years as a CM fan watching his son play for the Mustangs.

Coach Brackett graduated from the University of Maine @ Orono in 1977. He has coached youth basketball for over 18 years and has been a referee for the Western Maine Conference for the past six years, officiating middle school and high school games.

Coach Brackett is a stabilizing influence to the coaching staff and is very popular with the players. He is an excellent role model for players today.

He is the General Manager of C.W. Hayden Co. in Auburn.
