2001-2002 Season

With a combined effort of strong pitching, stellar defense and superb hitting, the Mustangs ended the season winning the NNESCC championship over Mass Bay and just fell short of knocking off defending champion UNH in the NEBA finals.

A game by game review:

CM 7 SM 5
In the first game of the season, Ryan Beisaw and Mike Sproul each compiled two hits and Sproul added 2 RBI's to give the Mustangs the first win of the season over SMTC.

CM 12 UMO
The Mustangs remained unbeaten in the early going beating UMO 12-9 in the first game of the doubleheader.  Nate Olson, Justin Deprey, Josh Bourque and Tommy Mason all contributed with 2 hits in the effort.  Tom Mason pitched strong to get the win for the Mustangs.

CM 2 UMO 1
In the second game of the doubleheader, CM scored two runs in the sixth inning to edge past UMO.  Runs by Olson, and Sproul gave the Mustangs the win.  Todd Gamache pitched all seven innings, giving up one run on four hits for the win on the mound.

UNH 9 CM 4
The Mustangs suffered their first loss in the first game of the doubleheader against UNH.  Nate Olson was the only repeat hitter for CM.

UNH 7 CM 6
In the second game of the twi-nighter, CM gave up a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to fall just short of a win.  Nate Olson had three hits including a home run and 5 RBI's in the losing effort.

CM 7 NHTI 1
Coming off two losses to the UNH Wildcats, CM exploded all over the Capitals, beating them 7-1.  Nate Olson went 3-3 with three doubles and 3 RBI's for the Mustangs.  Todd Gamache pitched seven strong innings giving up only one run while striking out 9.

CM 2 Bunker Hill 1
Nate Olson scored the winning run off a Mike Sproul single in the bottom of the ninth inning to improve the Mustangs record to 5-2 on the season.  Justin Duprey was the only repeat hitter for CM collecting two singles.  Adam Kelsea earned the win on the mound.

CM 20 UNE 2
The Mustangs exploded for 20 runs in the first five innings to roll over the University of New England.  Nate Olson went 4-4 with 5 RBI's and Mike Sproul knocked in 5 runs as well.

CM 9 UNE 4
In the second game, the boys kept rolling pounding out 14 hits in a winning effort. Olson had 3 hits and 4 RBI's to pace the offense.  Justin Carver earned the win on the mound.

CM 5 UNH 2
The Mustangs improved their record to 8-2 on the season beating the Wildcats in the first game of the doubleheader.  Ryan Beisaw and Josh Bourque each pounded out 3 hits to pace the offense. Mike Sproul pitched a complete game giving up just 5 hits for the win on the mound.

UNH 5 CM 3
CM's offense failed to catch fire in the second game of the doubleheader, losing to the Wildcats 5-3.  Nate Olson was the only repeat hitter for the Mustangs, who fell to 8-3 on the season.

CM 14 UMO 3
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Mustang offense exploded for 19 hits while providing 14 runs for pitcher Tom Mason who went the distance on the hill.  Nate Olson went 4-4 with 6 RBI's, Josh Bourque contributed 3 hits, including 3 RBI's.

CM 14 UMO 9
The Mustangs offense continued rolling, scoring 14 runs for the second time in one day.  Nate Olson hit for the cycle and Ryan Beisaw added 3 hits to pound UMO by 5 runs.  The squad improves to 10-3 on the season.

CM 7 Hesser 5
Corey Ouellette paced the Mustangs offense with 3 hits, including 2 RBI's to lead CM to a victory over Hesser.  Mike Sproul earned the win on the mound allowing just four hits.  The Mustangs improved their record to 11-3.

CM 22 Hesser 2
In just five short innings, the Mustangs pounded Hesser collecting 24 hits.  Ryan Beisaw had four hits, including 7 RBI's!  Nate Olson and Mike Sproul each went deep for the winners.

NHTI 12 CM 5
NHTI's offense out muscled starting pitcher Tommy Mason as the Capitals beat the Mustangs in the first game of a doubleheader.  The team falls to a 12-5 record.

CM 13 NHTI 8
The team  put things together in game two registering 13 runs on 22 hits.  Ryan Beisaw paced the attack with 4 doubles.  Nate, Tommy Mason and Josh Bourque all added 3 hits in the offensive assault

CM 6 SM 4
The squad improved its record to 14-4 beating rival Southern Maine by a 6-4 score.  Todd Gamache went the distance on the mound allowing only 7 hits, while striking out 8 hitters.  He also paced the offense knocking in 3 runs with 3 hits. 

CM 6 SM 3
Fourteen hits later, the boys captured the second game of the doubleheader with a 6-3 win.  Mike Sproul led the team with 3 hits and 4 RBI's.

CM 15 Unity 1
It took only 5 innings to dispatch Unity by a convincing margin.  Nate Olson led the team who improve its record to a 16-4 mark.  Chris Feather went the distance on the mound allowing only 4 hits and striking out 7 batters.

CM 12 Unity 3
The Mustangs offense took no break in the second game of the doubleheader collecting 18 hits and scoring 12 runs to sweep Unity College.  Josh Bourque, Adam Kelsea, Corey Ouelette, Ryan Beisaw and Tom Mason all had two hits for the home team.

CM 5 VTC 2
Mike Sproul went the distance for the Mustangs, allowing just 2 hits as CM beat host VTC by three runs.  Sproul was the only repeat hitter for CM as well.

CM 4 VTC 1
The Mustangs kept on rolling with a 4-1 win in the second game of the doubleheader.  Nate Olson was the only repeat hitter for CM.  The win improves the squads record to 19-4.

CM 4 UNE 3
Justin Carver, Ryan Beisaw, and Jon Arnold all had two hits to lead the Mustangs offense to a 4-3 win over UNE.  Ryan Beisaw singled home Arnold in the bottom of the seventh to seal the game.

CM 4 UNE 3
Game two of the doubleheader proved as tough for the team as CM squeaked out another 4-3 win.  Josh Bourque banged out a triple to score Justin Carver in the bottom of the seventh to capture the game.  The Mustangs move to a 21-4 record.

CM 3 VTC 2
Ryan Beisaw was the only repeat hitter for the Mustangs in the win for the first game of the NNESCC playoffs.  Nate Olson scored the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning on a Tommy Mason single to advance CM to the NNESCC championship game against Mass Bay.

CM 16 Mass Bay 2
The Mustangs made quick work out of the Buc's in 5 innings with a convincing 16-2 victory in the NNESCC championship game.  Nate Olson, Ryan Beisaw, and Adam Kelsea all had 3 hits to pound out 16 runs. Mike Sproul pitched a complete game striking out 10 and allowing only 3 hits. 

BU 5 CM 3
Boston University got all five runs in the second inning of Adam Kelsea to earn the win over the Mustangs.  Nate Olson was the only repeat hitter for CM.

BU 12 CM 2
BU continued to roll in game two pounding CM 12-2.  Corey Ouellette pitched in a losing effort.  Nate was the only repeat hitter for the home team.

CM 13 BU 3
In the semi final game of the NEBA, CM unloaded offensively collecting 17 hits knocking BU out of the playoffs with a resounding 13-3 victory.  Justin Carver, Nate Olson, Ryan Beisaw, Tom Mason, Todd Gamache, and Josh Bourque all were repeat hitters for CM.  Nate Olson and Ryan Beisaw hit home runs for CM.

UNH 11 CM 9
In a game called to darkness, the Mustangs could not pull out a win to capture the NEBA championship losing to rival UNH by two runs.  Nate Olson hit for the cycle, adding 5 RBI's in the losing effort.  Beisaw, Sproul, and Tommy Mason were repeat hitters for CM.
