Mustang’s baseball gets Strong-er
The Central Maine Community College Athletic Department is proud to welcome Matthew Strong, the new assistant baseball coach. Coach Strong will be working closely with head coach Charles “Jorin” Bunyea as the Mustangs look to build upon a stellar 2008-2009 season. Coach Strong brings his 12 years of coaching experience from Leavitt to CM in hopes to build a “stronger team and player mentally.” Coach Strong is focusing on strengthening his players mind and then letting the physical aspect play out naturally throughout the game.
When asked about his view on coaching Strong said, “I don’t mind getting beat, but I hate to lose.” Coach explained “if you got beat chances are you ran into a team that was just clicking on all cylinders, if you lose that means not only did you lose in the score column but you also lost the mental edge and a win-able game.”

Mustangs Win Baseball Title!
SOUTH PORTLAND - The CMCC Mustangs steamrolled
their way to their first conference title since 2005 thanks to
brilliant pitching and timely hitting at the YSCC baseball
tournament on Saturday.
The top-ranked Mustangs sent Jake Pelletier

College. The 2008 YSCC All-Conference award winner went the
distance, allowing just three-hits in a 10-0 romp over the Blue
Devils. Nick DeRice and Eric Picard paced the offense with three
hits each and Tyler Merchant walked four times and stole five
bases. DeRice put an exclamation point on the victory with a
two-run homer in the sixth, setting up a championship game with

tilt. The recently named YSCC Player of the Week befuddled the
Green Knights with a no-hit, 10-strikeout performance in a 6-0
victory. Picard sparked the offense once again going 3-for-4
with a pair of doubles and two RBI while Luis Mena also tallied
three hits in four tries, including a double and triple with two
RBI. Freshman Jamie Henderson also got into the multiple hit
