By following the Transfer Student Time Line, students should be well prepared for a smooth transfer process: Transfer Student Time Line First Semester: (Fall) q Meet with your Academic Advisor, learn about program requirements and ensure you are enrolled in the right classes. q Attend Making Your Credits Count - A First Step Transfer Advising Workshop. Follow up with your research and also attend a small group working session. q Sign up for the AdvantageU program (Associate of Arts students). q Attend the Fall Transfer Fairs to learn about baccalaureate degree programs, collect college materials and get on college mailing lists. q Earn good grades and enroll early for Spring classes! Second Semester: (Spring) q Complete your FAFSA for the upcoming academic year. q Research college majors and contact colleges of choice. q Attend the Spring Transfer Fairs. q Connect with your Academic Advisor, the Transfer Coordinator and AdvantageU reps at the Maine universities that interest you. q Earn good grades and enroll early for Fall and Summer classes! Third Semester: (Fall) q Narrow down your list of college majors/college choices. Visit the colleges on your list, considering Fall Open House programs. q Attend the Fall Transfer Fairs and sign up for individual interviews at CM. q Gather and begin preparing admissions information: application and admissions requirements, deadlines, essays, and letters of recommendation. q Connect with your Academic Advisor, the Transfer Coordinator and AdvantageU reps at the Maine universities that interest you, as well as contacts at all colleges of choice. q Earn good grades and enroll early for Spring semester classes, checking on graduation requirements for your final semester! Fourth Semester: (Spring) q Complete your FAFSA for the upcoming academic year. q Complete your applications and mail them off! Be aware of AdvantageU and program deadlines and be certain to send all materials in a timely manner – applications, fees, transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, etc. q Meet with your Academic Advisor to complete the Application to Graduate. q Respond to all college requests for more information regarding your application, financial aid, immunization records, housing/meal plans, student employment. q Request final official transcripts to be sent to your college(s) and notify them of your plans.
