Using Your Financial Aid to Purchase Your Books and Supplies
Bookstore allowances from your financial aid/sponsor may be available to you as early as one week prior to the start of each semester. If your financial aid has been finalized approximately three weeks (two weeks for sponsored programs) prior to the start of the semester, and your financial aid is enough to pay your semester bill and leave you with excess funds, a bookstore allowance will be placed on your CMCC Student ID Card for you to use to purchase books and supplies at the College Store.
To determine if funds have been placed on your CMCC Student ID Card:
- Refer to your acceptance letter for your CM Connect log-in instructions
- Log in to your CM Connect account at https://cmconnect.cmcc.edu/ics
- Click the Students tab
- Click ‘Payments and Student Billing'
- Click ‘My Account Balances'
- Choose "Current Course and Fee Statement"
- Choose "Generate My Course and Fee Statement"
- Click "View My Course and Fee Statement"
- If you see ‘One Card Bookstore Allowance Charge’ listed, then funds are available
How is the amount determined?
The amount is based on the number of credits that the student has for the semester and the amount of their anticipated credit balance after their financial aid has paid their semester charges. The maximum amounts are as follows:

What do students need to use their bookstore allowance?
After using CM Connect to determine if they have a bookstore allowance, students should bring their CMCC Student ID Card and a copy of their semester schedule to the College Store.
Paying for eBooks with the bookstore allowance:
Students using financial aid funds can come into the College Store once their aid is attached to their ID Card and order and prepay for their eBook. The College Store will then order the eBook and it will be delivered via the internet that evening.
Can the bookstore allowances be used at places other than the College Store?
No. The allowance can only be used to purchase books and supplies at the College Store.
What happens if the student doesn’t use all of their bookstore allowance?
The unused portion of the bookstore allowance is returned to the student’s CMCC account and is automatically included in the financial aid credit balance that is released to the student approximately 5 weeks after the start of the semester.
