Determination of Academic Credit
Credit hours for a course are determined by the following guidelines:
- Lecture-type coursework: One credit for every fifteen clock hours of scheduled contact, plus thirty hours of outside preparation by the student.
- Lab-type coursework: One credit for every thirty clock hours of scheduled lab work, plus fifteen hours of outside preparation by the student.
- Shop-type coursework: One credit for every forty-five clock hours of scheduled instructional activities.
Students may transfer credits earned at other regionally accredited post-secondary institutions to Central Maine Community College by furnishing an official transcript of work completed and a catalog course description from the institution(s) where the course(s) was completed. Courses determined to be equivalent in purpose and content to a Central Maine Community College course will be accepted for credit providing that a grade of "C" (NOT C-) or better was earned. Transfer credit is not included in the computation of the student's grade point average.
This transcript of the student's academic record is official when it bears the facsimile signature of the Director of Registration and Records and is embossed with the seal of Central Maine Community College.
