Many Avenues for Learning IT Skills at CMCC
August 17, 2015
If you’re an IT professional looking to gain new industry certifications, or if you’re interested in gaining the foundational skills you need to pursue a program of study, the Maine is IT! initiative offers numerous pathways to success in the field of information technology. A grant from the U.S. Department of Labor has enabled Maine's seven community colleges to add new programs, certificates, courses, and short-term training in information technology.
Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in Auburn offers associate degree programs in Computer Technology and in Network Security & Computer Forensics; advanced certificate programs in Network Administration, Network Security, and Server Administration; and industry-recognized certifications in areas such as CompTIA, TestOut PC Pro, and Microsoft Fundamentals in Networking, Security, and Server Administration.
Some of the three-credit courses being offered this fall at CMCC include Intro to Visual BASIC; Intro to PC Repair/OS; Linux Operating System; Intro to Networking; and Web Development. The fall semester begins August 31 and registration remains open through the first week of classes.
The Corporate and Community Services Division at CMCC is offering a wide range of non-credit courses in the fall including Microsoft Networking Fundamentals (starting September 28) and Microsoft Security Fundamentals (starting October 27).
For more information about these academic degrees and certificates at CMCC, please contact Emily Butterfield at (207) 755-5375 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Information is also available on the Maine Community College System's Maine is IT! website at www.mccs.me.edu/our-programs/maine-is-it.
These programs and workforce solutions are funded by (or in part by) a $13 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration. These are Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action programs and workforce solutions. Adaptive equipment will be provided upon request to individuals with disabilities.
