Getting Results In Business Workshop Offered at CMCC

The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer “Creating A Positive Workplace: Strategies and Tools to Spark Business Results,” a single-day workshop on Wednesday, March 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Research shows that “positivity” can be learned and, when applied, can lead to high performing teams and workplaces. Participants in this workshop will learn how to apply this research through techniques that increase optimism, build on strengths, and foster the proper balance between inquiry and advocacy. Exercises and case studies based on the appreciative inquiry method will focus on asking the right questions of team members to build better team cohesion, collaboration and communication.
The instructors will be Janet Edmunson and Katherine Maloney. Edmunson is President of JME Insights and partner in sPeak Performance. Janet has over 30 years’ experience in leadership in both large and small organizations. She was the Corporate Manager of Wellness Programs for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation. She has also been a consultant to small and mid-size businesses, including New England Telephone and the Boston Five Cents Savings Bank.
Katherine Maloney is an accomplished coach, program manager, facilitator, and consultant with over 25 years of experience helping individuals and teams connect with success in health care, financial services, and higher education organizations. Workplace affiliations and clients have included Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Fidelity Investments, and Babson and Emmanuel Colleges. She formerly owned and managed Crossroads Coaching and Consulting.
