CMCC Offers Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Course Starting October 6

The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College is offering two sections of the American Heart Association’s “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.” The first will be on Tuesday, October 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The second section will run on Thursday, October 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
These courses are designed to provide healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures. Topics include adult and pediatric CPR, use of the bag-valve mask, airway obstruction, automated external defibrillation (with child AED update), stroke and cardiac arrest, and other special resuscitation situations.
Each of these single-day courses is open to the public and intended for physicians, nurses, paramedics, first responders, medical technicians, aids or assistants and anyone whose work brings them into contact with members of the public such as school, hotel, fitness center and restaurant employees. Registration is open and ongoing, but space is limited. The cost of the class is $79 and includes all materials.
